Radiohead: "In Rainbows" Lyrics
Some kind soul on the Green Plastic forum was kind enough to post the lyrics book from "In Rainbows". Here's the first half of the album (Update 11/24/07: all of the lyrics are now up)--it's good to finally know what Thom is singing about. I had a lot of stuff wrong, but the lyrics just go to confirm my theory--"Bodysnatchers" is about Coldplay:you killed the sound
removed backbone
a pale imitation
with the edges sawn off
i have no idea what you are talking about
your mouth moves only with someone's hand up your ass
Right?

Bodysnatchers = Coldplay ... interesting theory, Kegzies. Would love to hear more substantiation. Based on your theory, there's some pretty interesting stuff going on with Yorke's use of the grammatical person in the story. Lots of flipping between first and second person perspectives. Do you think he "I" in the song is what T.Y. envisions is going on in Chris Martin's mind? Let's hear more.
Well, I don't know if it's a theory so much as a hunch. I've always thought that, and it was the 'they follow you like a dog' line.
Just off the top of my head, I remember there was an event a few years back where Thom snubbed Martin. Martin called Coldplay "radiohead lite". At one of the first live performances of the song, Thom said "think of stepford wives"--that is a fitting way to describe the army of Radiohead clones in the wake of OK Computer.
