Early Verdict: They Still Got It

***UPDATE #1***: As much as I love the NME, their early review of the record is cringe worthy:

'Bodysnatchers'
"...the song features a driving rhythm and gnarly blues guitar."

'Nude'
"It's a slow, ethereal song underpinned by Phil Selway's trademark patter and tish drumming..."

'All I Need'
"...it's a semi-love song."

'House Of Cards'
"The guitar picking is almost jolly."

'Jigsaw Falling Into Place'"A Spanish-style guitar intro gives way to a driving acoustic guitar loop and ratatat drums..."

'Videotape'
"Juddery drums and swirly effects kick in later in the song..."

I feel the same. I am two listens in, and it's certainly a grower (even though I very much enjoyed it the first time around).

Early faves are:
Nude
Weird Fishes/Arpeggi
Jigsaw Falling Into Place

Obvs.

Arpeggi blew me away...Reckoner is a pleasant surprise too--I haven't looked into it closely, but is it an entirely new song with an old name?

Yes, Reckoner is TOTALLY different than the live version I have.

And it's also way better. The "original" was a bit abrasive; the album version is a nice surprise.

It's a great album: lush and beautiful.

shame on you for posting MP3s from this album. it's pathetic because you're only doing it for hype machine hits. radiohead has set up a social experiment of sorts, and what you're doing is fucking with it.

seriously, not cool.

Seriously, they were converted to 96 kbs and seriously, anyone who's planning on "stealing" the record can do it on the Radiohead site anyways.

I paid for the record (twice actually) and encourage others to do the same.

I'm well pleased with the $10 I spent on the download....

sounds more ... groovy, yeah? a more funkalicious Radiohead! It threw me off at first, but I'm groovin' to it more with each listen..

Just imagine Thom singing into one of those tiny little microphones in "Nude," while slowly melting into the ground ...
